Third Post about “The Crucible”

Im writting this post about 2/3 of the way through “The Crucible”, at the begginning of Act 3.  Now this play has gotten to the real juicy stuff, and im really enjoying the way this play is progressing as of now.  The Crucible is showing me a good picture of what Salem was really like when the Witch trials took place.  The only way to describe the setting in Salem, is chaos and lies among its citizens.  Many false accusations of Witchery led to more lies for revenge.  The book is honestly starting to get out of control.  Act 2 takes place in the home of Mr. Procter who is very aganist the idea of Witchcraft alltogether.  Elizabeth, Mr. Procters wife, is given a doll as a “presant” from their servant Mary.  However, when the town marshal comes to arrest Elizabeth on account of the “accusation of Witchcraft”, they find that the doll is in fact a voodoo doll, which only gives them more proof of Witchcraft.    As you can see, there are many misunderstandings and false accusations within this play, wich only makes it better.  Along with Elizabeth, many other women in Salem have been accused of Witchcraft, women whom are described in the play as “perfectly harmless” are still being sent to court to be tried.  This shows that in the time of the Salem Witch trials, it didn’t matter who a person was within society, everyone was being charged.  Im very curious to see if Elizabeth is going to be hanged for Witchery, or what was Mary doing with a voodoo doll that she claimed “she made.”  Im also curious to how Betty, Mr. Parris’s daughter, is feeling, and if she was involved in Witchcraft before.  Im ready for a big suprise at the end of this book, I want to be astonished at what the final outcome is.  This play has a great way to leave the reader hanging after each act, and im very excited to see what the Trials will bring for the town of Salem.
